So, after coming off of my last journal. I found out that my mother is going to have our cat taken in to be put down in the next few days.
I love my cat so much. We've had him for a little over a decade, around 11-12 yrs and he was about 6 yrs old when we first got him. He is the most lovable cat you could have asked for, almost never used his claws and was friendly with everyone who walked into the house. I love how he would purr and let you pick him up so that we could curl up on the couch while I did some work or watched a movie. I remember when I was editing my photos from Montreal this past summer, he jumped up on my desk next to my mouse and just sat there with me while I edited, every so often nudging my hand for to pet him. I have a lot of good memories of my cat.
Unfortunately, as some of my friends know, Brillo (my cat) has been experiencing some pain recently, he then lost his appetite and has had severe muscle atrophy. He has also lost most of the use in his hind legs and can't jump up on the couch anymore, or even go up the stairs. It's even hard to pet him because his legs with give and his legs will slide out.
At this point, he is probably around 17 yrs old and we all feel he has had a good long life. He has been meowing almost constantly and has been trying to get outside at every chance he gets, which is odd at this time of year because he'll stay inside in the colder months. We think he's trying to run off to die alone. So we figured it'd be better to take him in and have it done. As sad as I am that he'll be going while I'm away at college, I know it's for the best.
I will miss you Brillo. I love you so much.
