So things that've been going on recently... many things.
Atomic Lollipop was this past weekend. I only got to attend the Saturday because of a family event that was going on on the Sunday, but from my time on Saturday, it's a fun little con. Great if you wanna feel like a kid again! Ferris wheel, bouncy castle, glow sticks and bubble machines, outdoor rave, good music.
The only thing I can say is that I'd rather mainly go for the main events than for typical con things, like Artists Alley or Dealers Room or regular panels. Although there was a nerdy burlesque show (that we didn't catch, but oh well) that sounded fun, but otherwise, in the day, it was just kinda okay. I was also VERY tired that day because I was unable to sleep the night before. Literally. I was awake from 8pm Friday until about 8pm Saturday because I tried to sleep but for whatever reason, I couldn't. So at 8pm, I got to take a 2 hour nap before we headed back to the con for the rave and ferris wheel ride.
I might do it again, but I think they need to expand a little.
I was also sick for the last 2 weeks. With what, I have NO idea. It started as a weird throat thing, then a full blown sore throat, though it was strep, became congested and achy, then headaches. I dunno what I had exactly, but for the most part, I am well again. I had to miss a week of work because I was afraid of infecting the guys at the studio, but half of them were gone for San Diego Comic Con, so there wasn't much work for me to do anyways.
I'm almost finished editing Colossalcon, and I have my friend, Jacquelyn's, engagement photos this weekend that we're shooting! I'm so excited to do my first semi-pro non-cosplay shoot, and especially with one of my oldest friends. I'm so excited for her and her fiancé. They are a great couple and I'm so happy I can be the one to capture their love on film (digital film
I'll be on a bit of a learning curve, but you only learn by doing.
I also found out from the guys at the studio that it is very likely that I'll be helping them out at Fan Expo this year, so either I get a free pass into the con, or $45 for the whole weekend (which is still sweet) and I get to network with industry pros! XD So excited for that.
Unfortunately, because I'll be at the booth helping them, I won't be doing shoots for Fan Expo unless I see a friend I wanna shoot with after hours and that'll likely be off the cuff.
We're also doing a big picnic near Labor Day with the gang! *SutekiGo
and Mel for a cosplay picnic and shoot. I'm so excited to see everyone all together again. Feels like we haven't all seen each other in ages.
One last thing... I made a very big purchase the other day, and I'll have to make another one so that I can use the first one. I pre-ordered the 10 disc Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase One set. (pictured below)
Only down side... It's Blu-ray... I don't have a Blu-ray player. My mom has one now, but I won't have one when I move out for school, plus most of the tv's in my mom's house are old-fashioned tube televisions, and you need an HD tv to use Blu-ray. I have a small HD tv, so guess what I'm buying soon? Blu-ray player! Luckily they aren't ridiculously expensive anymore, but it's another $80-$100 gone from my wallet. T^T
But it will ALL be worth it to have all those movies in that briefcase, with all the bound features, and with the Tesseract! XD
Sooo yeah! Very exciting and hectic life atm, but good times.
