Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

I'm kind of nervous about doing the shoots I have for next week because AN is not really known for it's... "backdrop". But I'll figure out something. I'll probably be going early on Friday (around noon) to get my pass for the weekend (because I wasn't able to register in advance this year), and then scout out the locations before my first shoot at 4pm.

So it's Victoria Day Weekend this weekend, for non-Canadians, that means it's our May long weekend, so fireworks have been going off all weekend long. But more importantly, I got my mom's car all to myself for the weekend! My mom was up at our cottage and I had a hangout with some buds, so she left me her car to take to get to my buddies' place. It was awesome!! I realized very quickly I'm a good driver... when my mom isn't in the car with me. I'm so used to her saying "slow down" and "watch it", that I always thought I was gonna be a bad driver. But after I had the car to myself... I realized her reacting so much to my driving was making me stressed out. I was totally fine by myself. And I even snuck out earlier today with the car again to do a bit of shopping. Hehehe, but yeah, definitely wanna get the car again soon. Maybe I can even get it for AN, so I won't have to worry about squeezing in with friends or taking transit.

I'm still working on pictures from the Kariya Park shoot we did a week and a half ago. I still have a few single shots to edit and all the group shots, so it'll be another week or 2 before all the photos are up from the shoot. I wanna get them done before AN, but it's not likely to happen since I'll be working the 3 days before AN, plus I'm busy tomorrow night. So maybe I can get a good chunk done tonight and tomorrow afternoon.

I still need to buy back up memory cards for the weekend. I only have one 4GB memory card and now that my laptop is relatively out of commission, I'm gonna need a lot more memory to be able to shoot for the entire weekend and not upload the photos after every shoot.

I won't be cosplaying this weekend either. I have decided to take the year off from cosplaying to focus on my photography, and to save money for school because my cosplaying usually ends up costing me a good chunk of change that I can't really afford this year.

I'm kind of excited for my summer! I've got a lot planned, both conventions and vacations. After AN, I'm doing ConBravo! in July and Otakuthon in August. Work has been going really good so far, getting lots of experience, it's artistically fulfilling by building stuff, and I'm getting a pretty good work out too because I'm lifting and carrying heavy things around all day. I'm going camping near Lake Huron with my boyfriend and a bunch of his college friends in late June and we're planning on doing a road trip to an amusement park in the States some time in mid-July. We might do DisneyWorld or Cedar Point, but it'll depend on how flexible work is for both of us.

So yeah, life is great! Very happy!

Unfortunately, I haven't had much time for myself to do anything art-wise. After this past semester at school, I don't plan on doing anything for much of the summer because I was so stressed out from school. I hate feeling like that, but I am looking forward to next year since I hear that we get to be a bit more personal and make more decisions on our work.

So that be it for now! I'll probably post a journal after AN with some updates.

I know exactly what you mean about driving. When I had my G1, my mom was constantly riding me about going slower, watching out for this and that, being careful of that car blah blah blah. As soon as I got my G2 and drove for the first time alone, it was awesome. I have my G now, so I feel so free <3

I've said this many many times already, but I just can't wait for AN. I still have a fair bit to do cosplay-wise, and I'm working the next two nights, so it might be hectic, but I'm still super pumped >u<

We're going to ConBravo too! Yay another con! That road trip sounds so exciting! We're planning a trip to the states too (maybe Harry Potter World! Yah, we're nerds like that lol) but it's not for sure yet. We're just hoping haha

AN is so close now, and I'm getting kinda nervous. i'm almost afraid I won't get the shots I need for these shoots, but I'm trying to be optimistic.

I can't wait to do a full Hetalia shoot again. I'm just so pumped to see everyone again, if anything.

I'm lucky my dad was pretty good when I was learning to drive, my mom was terrible, I think she grabbed the wheel once. I found driving on my own helped me a lot more then with parents e.e
