Colossalcon Schedule GOES ONLINE TOMORROW!

My Colossalcon Photo Shoot Schedule will be released on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10pm EST. There will be 4 slots.
Hope to see everyone there and be sure to get your time slot requests in after the schedule goes up on Thursday! Slots will go fast!

PLEASE read through all these details carefully if you want to book a time slot with me. By sending me a request, I will take it as an agreement to the details below. 
Some details have changed since Anime North last year, so please be sure to read everything.

Information
Send me either a note or an e-mail (liquidcocainephotos@gmail.com) with the following information if you wish to book a time slot. I will not accept any requests for bookings unless in this format:
1) Name(s)
2) DeviantART / Cosplay.com name (if applicable)
3) Cosplay (characters and series)
4) Time slot you're interested in booking and a secondary slot if you're first choice is no longer available
5) E-mail and cell phone contact 

* Slots are given on a first come first serve basis. Do not submit a request before the schedule goes online.


Pricing
Individual Cosplayer - $20 per session (45 min to 1 hr), 7-8 retouched photos.
Two Cosplayers - $25 per session (45 min to 1 hr), 5-6 retouched individual photos, 3-4 retouched group photos.
Three Cosplayers - $30 per session (45 min to 1 hr), 4-5 retouched individual photos, 2-3 retouched group photos. 
- I ask that payment be in person at the time of the shoot in cash. 

* Group size will be limited to 3 people for this con. Groups do not need to be from the same series, so you can split a shoot with friends and each get individual shots of your cosplays with no group shots.

I will be working with each cosplayer only ONCE this weekend due to limited scheduling time.


What you need to do
Bring Poses - I try to do research on the character and series before a shoot and I do usually bring reference photos, but ultimately, you know your character better than I will. Practice your poses in the mirror or with a buddy, and bring reference photos if needed. 

Have Props - Even if your character doesn't have a weapon, stuff that can help to enhance your character is very useful and can give ideas for poses. It's not necessary, but it's helpful.

Have Attitude - Make sure you are energized and in-character for the shoot. It helps to keep the shoot moving and so we aren't stalling trying to think of something to do.

Be On Time - I cannot stress enough the importance of being on time. I understand, life happens, we can be late sometimes. However, if within 15 minutes you have not appeared for the shoot, the shoot will be cancelled and it will heavily influence whether or not I will work with you again in the future. Please be courteous of my time and I will be of yours as well.  

Rights of the photos
Final photos can be used for whatever you see fit, including posting them online, printing them, sending them in for publication, showing them to family and friends, etc...
Be aware that I reserve the right to post the photos from the shoots on my DeviantART, Facebook, and Cosplay.com pages, as well as for publication as self-promotion of my photography.

Confidentiality
All information will be kept confidential.
E-mails will be kept to send out the final photos in a .zip file which will include all the photos, both with and without my watermark.

Ok, so I got the job! I start on Friday, so I'm going to let them know I have these events that I had planned months in advance, and hopefully everything will work out.

Hey guys! 

So I know Colossalcon is in less than a month, and usually I put out my schedules a month in advance. However, I've never had 2 cons scheduled at the same time, and I'm currently very scared that I may not get time off for AN AND Colossalcon. I am trying to get a job, one of which has been toying with me for 2 weeks now. I haven't told them I need these two cons off, and I'm afraid they may not hire me because they are so soon and they're so close together. 

My "personal" and "business" schedules are wide open for pretty much the rest of summer (except Otakuthon), so I told them my weekly schedule is great so that I'd get hired. But that was at the beginning of May. Now it's 10 days to AN, I still don't have the job, (they actually called my references and still nothing), and I'm either worried I won't get it or that I will, but they won't give me the days off. Colossalcon is more important to me than AN at this moment, just because I don't get a hotel or anything for AN (other than a badge). Colossalcon I have paid for my badge and hotel, secured transport, etc... So I intend to go regardless. But if I have to choose one or the other, I'm going with Colossalcon.

If that happens, I may have to cancel some AN shoots, depending on what days they want me to work, if I have to work at all, or if I even get hired. 

I know for those of you with whom I booked with for AN, this may come as a huge inconvenience, and I am really sorry if it happens. But for now, everything is still on track. 

I'm unsure about when to release my schedule for Colossalcon. I'm hoping to get it out sometime this week. The place that I'm hoping wil hire me said they'd call me about the job on Friday, it's Tuesday, and still nothing, so I'm going to stay optimistic. Hopefully I'll have the Colossalcon schedule up no later than Saturday.

Thanks so much for everyone's understanding for my lateness and for my situation at this time, I really appreciate it.

Whew! Oh man! I can officially say that was the most hectic scheduling ever!

I want to thank everyone who messaged me with a request for a slot. Due to tight scheduling this year, I could only take on 6 groups. I wish I could work with all of you! Seriously! I looked through everyone's work after I took down names and times, and I was so impressed by the sheer talent. You all are awesome! Unfortunately, I can only do so much this year in terms of photo shoots. I really hope I get to work with you all eventually!

For those with whom I do have shoots, thank you so much for booking with me! You'll all receive an email a week before AN with final details I'll be sending out.

Looks like the account was deactivated. I don't know if this was done by DeviantArt or by the account holder themselves, but it looks like we won guys!

Thanks to everyone who helped report the stolen photos and works by this person. Glad we can come together to help stop art theft! :D

Hey guys,

I've been made aware that photos of mine, as well as of friends of mine and other cosplayers I know, have had their photos stolen and posted on dA under this account: [link]

I have asked this person to remove the photos, even giving her 2 days to remove them. As of yet, she has not yet removed either my photos, nor those of other cosplayers who's permission she does not have to post.

I have reported the theft to dA but as of yet, nothing has been done. I would appreciate if any of you guys could help by reporting the photos as stolen or being used without permission by the owners. Most of the photos are owned by other people, I've seen 2 at this time that are mine, and numerous others that are of my friends. If you recognize mine or even other people's works on this account, please help by reporting the account. 

I wouldn't normally ask for something like this, but it makes me uncomfortable that my photos are being posted on other accounts without my permission or credit. And even if credit was given, I don't appreciate people who are unrelated to the shoot to post my photos. I have never met this person before and whatever she may say, she at least does not have mine or my friends permission to post our photos. 

Again, I would appreciate the help. Please avoid harassment or vulgar language, I just want dA to deal with this in a timely fashion. I'd rather bombard dA admins than harass a person's account.

PS. I've been getting asked about the AN schedule release date. Expect a release around the dates of April 24th-26th. I'm moving out of my apartment this week and I'll be getting settled in so it'll be rough to get everything sorted out and I would greatly appreciate your cooperation  and patience with the schedule release.
I will post a 24 hour advance notice before the schedule goes live.

Contacting me about doing cosplay: not photography

Hey guys!

So I've noticed a trend lately.

I understand that this a common mistake, but I do get kinda tired of people mistaking me for the cosplayer rather than as a photographer.
I understand that when people see my posts on dA or Cosplay.com or FB, they tend to assume it's the cosplayer who posted it and in comments, it's understandable. But I've been getting private messaged or emails A LOT lately from people who are offering opportunities for big projects to do cosplay for, and I continuously have to inform them that I am a photographer, not a cosplayer.
In the last month, I can probably say I've been contacted 10-11 times for those reasons. I just wish people would take an extra 5 minutes to actually research my page, my account, or even in the descriptions, and it would easily be cleared up.

It's kind of disheartening when people ONLY acknowledge the cosplayer and not the photographer who made it visible. Not to say the cosplayers don't do a wonderful job, they do (otherwise I wouldn't have been contacted so much). But I just wish people contacted me because of my photography and did their research before hand.

A small rant, but it has been increasing over time and I just wanted to put this out there. If you're going to contact me, for any reason, PLEASE do your research first. Look at my pages, my bio, my FAQ, all of which can be found on this account, as well as on my FB page. I always put the links in my journals for that very reason.
This also applies to ANY cosplayer or photographer you contact about doing shoots with. Do your research before contacting them. It helps from my having to repeat themselves over and over again.

And since I haven't done a journal in a while, I might as well put it out there that I, unfortunately, won't be graduating this year from my program. I failed a class last semester and I've dropped a few classes this semester, so I'll have to come back for one more year. And I was so ready to be done with school. I seriously just wanna get out there and start working and be independent.
Not the best news, but yeah...

In other news, Cosplay Photographer and Videographers has developed a new networking system so cosplayers can find photog's and videog's in their areas:

It just launched yesterday and if you'd like to join, you can just sign in through Facebook to set up an account. Cosplayers can sign up too, but only photographers and videographers will be made public for now.

So sorry it's been ages since I've updated or made a journal here. School has been incredibly rough for me this year. I also was very sick for the last few weeks and I'm just getting over it now.

However, I just wanted to point to a feature that I was made aware of today. Two of my photos were featured on Kotaku today for a cosplay article regarding Ace Attorney. ~eebanee and ~ShivaChan, who cosplayed Shi-Long Lang and Shih-na respectively, were featured in the article from our shoot in Montreal at Otakuthon. Congrats to the lovely ladies who did an amazing work on their cosplays!!

DeviantART Birthday for LCP

So it'll be 2 years today that I started up doing photo shoots as Liquid Cocaine Photography.  It has been an incredible 2 years. The sheer amount of people I have been able to meet and talk to and work with, it's amazing! Doing this has brought great joy in my life and I want to thank everyone who watches me, on here or Facebook, and say that I appreciate all the love you guys send my way. I totally don't deserve it, but I'm grateful for it regardless. :heart:

ALSO!
I was recently interviewed for a blog called Today I Conversed With...

I also JUST got back from Venezuela last night (at around 2am), posted my personal photos from the trip on my personal Facebook, then slept for 2 hours before having my first class of the term today (missed 3 others, but I'll catch up the work). The trip was AWESOME (besides a few of us getting a little traveller's sickness) but we were on Margarita Island, on a great resort, got to do an excursion of the island while we were there, did some off-roading, stuck our heads of of the jeep and stood while driving along highways, lounged by beaches and pools, got PWND by some HUGE waves in the ocean, drank lots, talked a lot, ate a lot (until we got sick), did a hike up to a lighthouse near our resort, just.... AAHHHH Such a good time!! I just needed a break away from everything and it was great spending time with my friends again. The money is funny looking, and they hand checked out bags 3 times before we left to come back to Canada... They are very serious about their drugs in Venezuela. XD







That's about it for now guys!! Don't expect to hear much from me because of school but I'll be around checking messages and such. :)

Happy New Year and Off to Venezuela!

Happy New Year everyone!!! :heart: How did everyone ring in their new year?
I went shopping for my trip to Venezuela, picked up some new outfits and swim gear, then got a boat load to sushi, helped my sister and my mom pack up for their evenings, got ready for my own, then celebrated with the friends I've mainly seen all year *kaiser-mony, her bf Jordan, *mielele, and many others. Glow in the dark beer pong, sparklers, gift exchanges. I just love my friends, and it makes me so happy that we can all go away together in Venezuela.

Yay! Tomorrow I fly out to Venezuela for a week! Still packing and doing laundry. I have to pack up for Venezuela, AS WELL as for when I go back Oakville because I'm going form the airport to my apartment, without picking up my stuff, so I need it to be organized before I leave. Cannot express how excited I am for this trip! I haven't been on a vacation in so long (about 13 years), and after this year, I really needed a getaway with my friends.

So I won't be near the internet (as far as I know). If I do, I'll mainly be on Facebook, rather than tumblr or dA. So if you need to message me or something, go to my Facebook page and message me through there, or my e-mail liquidcocainephotos@gmail.com

Hope everyone had a good New Year's Eve! I don't really do resolutions, but if I had to say something I wanted for 2013, that I live my life more for myself than for anyone else. I do a lot of things in my life to satisfy other people, like my family (who I love dearly), or friends (again, all the love). But I want to be more myself. When I went shopping yesterday, I bought a bunch of things I would never usually see for myself because of how others may see me, but I liked them, and I thought, "To hell with it, I like it, I'm getting it". I far too often take what people think of me into consideration, and I just want to do the things I want to do and look the way I want to look. I'm also thinking of getting tattoo #2 this year (either Daft Punk or a lace pattern tattoo, i want both, but it depends on what design I come up with first).

Have a good new year everyone! We survived many predicted apocalypses before(Y2K, May/October 2011), countless diseases (SARS, swine flu), life changing events, and now we have survived 2012. 2012 was the year of live every day like it's your last. The world may not have ended, but let's continue to live our lives like there's no tomorrow! Into 2013 we go!!!

Merry Christmas!/Canadian Cosplay Photographers

Hey Everyone! Happy Holidays!!

I hope everyone is doing well and is having a great holiday season.
I've been lucky to see many friends so far over my break and had an ugly christmas sweater party with *kaiser-mony and *mielele with many of our friends.


I had the ugliest of the bunch (in other words, THE BEST< THE BEST< THE BEST). The guy with the HO HO HO shirt made mine... and gave me jingle balls... Yeah, there's a dick on my sweater.

As well, I had Korean BBQ with my old Sheridan buddies who are back from Vancouver for the break! Love these guys!!


And then of course came seeing my sister after ages. My god parents came over for a visit and gave us a rosemary christmas tree to use for cooking... We were confused.


I love being home for the holidays. Get to see everyone again! Though I'm currently at home... alone... while my mom is with her boyfriend's family and my sister is having dinner with a friend... on Christmas Eve... I'm so lonely!

Hey guys!

So all my Youmacon photos are edited and sent out as of today. I'll be posting the other 2 shoots over the next little bit.

I can't believe how long it took me to get those shoots done, almost 2 months later... Man do I suck.

Well, I'm happy with how they came out. :)

Also! I posted a poll a few days ago asking for suggestions for  which photo from 2012 I should submit to Cosplay Photographers' Year End contest.
I'd really appreciate help from the community. I'm my own worst critic and I've been going back and forth with photos. So if you guys wanna stop by the poll and put in a suggestion, I'd greatly appreciate it! :D

Otherwise, I'm on Christmas break, got most of my grades back from my semester (got an A+ in Graphic Design... WHA?! That prof is hard to impress so I was happy I got such a good grade, definitely taking it again next semester)

So yeah, that's about it!

End of the Semester = Christmas Break

Hey guys!! So I'm done my semester, only one left before I graduate!

So it's now Christmas break, I need to do SO much shopping and gift buying for people. Plus so much partying and seeing friends and family to do.

I have started working on the photos from Youmacon. I'm hoping to have them all done by this time next week (if I'm lucky). So yeah, expect those to be out soon. :)

Otherwise, I'm still wound up from the stress of the semester. It didn't really end on the best terms, and i'm nervous about next semester. But all I can do at this point is stay optimistic about it.
Wish me luck!

I'm doing so much running around in the next 3 weeks; shopping, Christmas, Ugly Sweater party, Ottawa with my dad and sister, then Venezuela!!! I haven't been on a real vacation in SO long! I'm extremely excited to be going, especially with good friends. :D

Hope all of you who follow me are having a great Christmas break and have a wonderful New Year!! I appreciate the love and support and I hope you are all well! :heart:

Back from Youmacon!

Hey guys!! So I'm back from Youmacon and straight back into my homework. I have a million projects I'm behind on and need to do in the next 6 weeks before the semester ends.

But Youmacon was Awesome!! The only bad things I can say was how disappointed I was about the confusion of the buildings, having the con split into 2 buildings that are not connected, and causing more stress than needed upon arrival on Friday. However, the rest of my weekend was great! Got to do all 3 of my shoots on Saturday with some delays due to the 2 buildings and much running back and forth. But all the shoots went very well and I'm depressed I won't be touching them until December because of my school work.

*RocknamLee was nice enough to drive me and *kaiser-mony to Detroit and back. Also, ~rankin24 and her friend Claire for letting me and Mony stay with them in the hotel. For the most part, when I wasn't shooting, I was with Mony at her artist alley table in the new space that was SOO much better than last year. I was so happy to see *SutekiGo, *empress-arcana, ~Naiiki, !GammoGahato, ~zacloudseth, *the-mirror-melts, *tokidoki-loki, *august-fehrmont, *vickybunnyangel, *alucardleashed, *lunaladyoflight, ~sammei, ~RedHades and various others over the weekend. (I never got to see *EnchantedCupcake however, which I am very sad about. :'( )

I bought quite a bit, more than I was planning, including Ninja Scroll, a cute pink alpaca, an awesome dragon print, Avengers badges and an Avengers make-up bag. !GammoGahato was sweet enough to give me her Ironman cups that she showed me a few weeks ago. :heart:

This con was a great break from the stress of school, but school is rough at this moment so don't expect to hear from me for the next few weeks.
Hope to be back again next year! And hopefully they'll move everything to the Cobo building next year.

Individual Cosplayer - $20 per session (45 min to 1 hr), 7-8 retouched photos.

What you need to do
Bring Poses - I try to do research on the character and series before a shoot and I do usually bring reference photos, but ultimately, you know your character better than I will. Practice your poses in the mirror or with a buddy, and bring reference photos if needed.

Have Props - Even if your character doesn't have a weapon, stuff that can help to enhance your character is very useful and can give ideas for poses. It's not necessary, but it's helpful.

Have Attitude - Make sure you are energized and in-character for the shoot. It helps to keep the shoot moving and so we aren't stalling trying to think of something to do.

Be On Time - I cannot stress enough the importance of being on time. I understand, life happens, we can be late sometimes. However, if within 15 minutes you have not appeared for the shoot, the shoot will be cancelled and it will heavily influence whether or not I will work with you again in the future. Please be courteous of my time and I will be of yours as well.  

Rights of the photos
Final photos can be used for whatever you see fit, including posting them online, printing them, sending them in for publication, showing them to family and friends, etc...
Be aware that I reserve the right to post the photos from the shoots on my DeviantART, Facebook, and Cosplay.com pages, as well as for publication as self-promotion of my photography.

Confidentiality
All information will be kept confidential.
E-mails will be kept to send out the final photos in a .zip file which will include all the photos, both with and without my watermark.

Alrighty, I'm posting this now because I know I'll forget to do it in the next few days.

My Youmacon Photo Shoot Schedule will be released on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 7pm EST. Only 3 slots will be posted.
The reason for the small number of shoots is because I am incredibly busy with my final year of college and I'll probably be swamped with work, so I don't want to take on more work than I can handle. Please be sure that you will be able to come to the convention, your cosplay will be ready, and that you can come to the shoot if I book you. I don't want to have people backing out last minute when I only have so many time slots for this con.

I'm really very excited for Youmacon year 2. Let's hope it's as good as last year was! :)

Woot!! I've got all the Otakuthon shoots done!

Though, I still have a side shoot with *EnchantedCupcake and ~SeibaTooth that I have to edit, as well as a shoot with *SutekiGo, ~Glay, *TechnoRanma, ~Aerialdown, and ~IggyBoo-EmoNemo that we did right before school started up. So I'm not QUITE finished all my editing, but all my paid shoots are now finished.

Whew... I have so much school work already and it's only 2 weeks into my semester. Be warned to any who book me for Youmacon... be aware that there might be a wait for the photos because of school.

I always feel bad when edits take longer than I promised.

My business prof has a great saying we use.
You should get one of these 3 things when doing work:
Fun
Fame
Fortune
If you don't get any of these things, don't do it. Luckily, I get Fun and Fortune (not much money, but it pays for my hobby) out of doing these shoots. So I'll be doing this for a while to come. :)
